Our goal is to:
Give free copies of Braving Our Savings books to children, with a focus on underrepresented communities
Inspire and teach millions of children how to invest and be brave
Break generations-long cycles of making ends meet
Lift one another up through community and the human spirit
All funds will be used as charity to support this goal.
Cost breakdown:
$35,000 to publish book
All proceeds raised will go to purchasing books to give to kids!
Why did I write Braving Our Savings and why do kids need to read it?
The power of capital to affect change is tremendous, and careers in investing offer many wonderful opportunities. However, less than 2 percent of capital is managed by women and people of color. It’s never too early to inspire young people of all backgrounds to invest. This book is an introduction to some of the fundamental concepts of investing. Join me in teaching kids about this subject—and beginning to set right the imbalances of power in the investment industry and beyond.
